Respectful Working Mentors – information for members

Earlier this year, and in light of the Harman Report, we relaunched our Respectful Working Policy. Through the policy and with the help of our Respectful Working Mentors we hope to offer support to members who are experiencing bullying or harassment by colleagues at the bar or by judges.

You are welcome to contact a mentor of your choice – whether one based in your local area or, if you prefer, one who is not. All our mentors welcome your email or call. We suggest reading the policy before making contact so you have a sense of how they may be able to help and some of the (current) limitations on them where professional conduct rules to report serious professional misconduct may be triggered. We are hoping that guidance on these rules will be published by the BSB soon, and that this will enable our mentors to be of greater support in cases of barrister on barrister bullying or harassment.
