National Conference

This year’s FLBA National Conference will take place on Saturday 12th October 2024 between 9 am and 5 pm at The Queens Hotel, Leeds, West Yorkshire. We look forward to welcoming members of the bar and judiciary to discuss the latest updates in family law.

The Conference, chaired by James Roberts KC and opened by Sir Andrew McFarlane, President of the Family Division will provide members with the opportunity to hear from leading practitioners including: Mr Justice Poole, Lady Justice King, Jacqueline Thomas KC, Taryn Lee KC, Nicholas Stoner KC, Charlotte Worsley KC, Jo O’Brien KC, Nicky Saxton KC and DJ Troy,

There will be a debate considering transparency in the family court featuring the judiciary, the Family Justice Young People’s Board, the bar and the press. There will be break-out sessions for all 3 main areas of family law. The full programme can be found by following this link insert link

The conference will take place as an entirely in person event at the Queens Hotel which is ideally situated next to Leeds Train Station. Leeds has train links to all major UK cities as well as a local airport. There are a large number of hotels in the City Centre within short walking distance of the Queens Hotel. We are also able to offer all conference delegates a 15% discount off of the best available rates at the Queens Hotel, please contact the Queens Hotel Reservations Department directly either via email Re**********@th************.uk or via telephone 0113 243 1323 quoting “Family Law Bar Association”. They require full pre-payment for these bedrooms and can allow for cancellation up until 4 pm the day prior to the event with a £50.00 cancellation fee. Please note there is limited availability, and the discount will expire on the 1st of September 2024.

The Conference dinner will be held at The Queens Hotel on the Saturday evening. After dinner entertainment will include a live music set by local band ‘Scott and the Antarctics!’ and a disco. The dress code will be black tie and the evening will end by 1am. The dinner will also be used as an opportunity to raise funds for the Care Leavers Christmas Dinner Charity. Booking must be completed by no later than 12 noon on Friday 20th September 2024.

Full price conference ticket £130 & Dinner £60
Under 3 years call discount on conference ticket £100 & Dinner £40
A reduced rate of £100 & £40 respectively will be available for the first 30 people (who are 3 years call and above) who book a combined full-price conference and dinner ticket
